Q4A. 1. dont touch the barn door of the red head if its on or you have just turned it off as it will still be really warm.

2. we have to wait until its cooled down considerably as we don't want to break the copper wire inside of the red head.

3. dont trip off the wire that connects to the light stand.

Q5. When focusing the camera, what do we place on the object/subject to ensure it is the center of focus?

Q5A. a green rectangle will appear in the view finder

Q6. Name two techniques we can use to adjust the brightness and contrast of a photograph?

Q6A. gently press down on the shutter button till half way then you have focused it and adjusted the lighting 

you can use the  ISO to adjust the lighting and make it a lot better.

Evaluation for the magazine advert

For this advert we had to produce an advert advertising anything we wanted though using photos we have taken so I choice to use a sprite can for my product and have a very different theme to this advert with it being a about a jungle and unleashing your true self when you drink sprite so it gives a very edgy feel very different to a lot of other adverts.

For the research that I had to do to make this advert it was just look at other adverts by sprite and make it different to all the reset with my own twist which I did with the jungle background this gave it a different feel and will make people look at this advert over others as it’s something that sprite has never done before they have always gone with any original advert show off the product and that’s really it but with this you’re putting it in a new environment that will make people question if it’s a sprite advert which means it’s getting noticed over all the others out there.

I learnt lots of new skills though this project as I’ve never used Photoshop before so it was completely new for me this whole thing is something that I’ve never used so I’ve learnt the basic like how to zoom in and out to how to cut out things in a couple of seconds so I’ve learnt a lot with Owen and the rest of my class helped me out with some things too.

Overall I’m happy with my final piece as it’s really my first piece of Photoshop that will be getting judge but I’ll look back on it in 1 years’ time and say how bad it was and what I could of improved on to make this piece of work my best piece of work.

If I was to do this again I would chose a different product and a different idea for my advert so it would be better as this is a very basic design and idea for what I should be doing but I’m happy with my work how I’ve done it.

In this project we had to produce a Video advert for a product that we made up or either an existing product so in my group we had me, Yasmine and Dee and we choice to make up our own product and this product was a new energy drink like Lucozade and Gatorade but it was called Energe as we could really do what we want as some product have a specific way of advertising there product so this way we could really do what we wanted with are advert so that what we did and we finally produced a good piece of work that applied to the topic of Freak or Unique.

First we had to find other advert that applied to are product so we had a basic idea of how other company’s advertise there energy drinks and they all follow the same theme is what we realised that its someone that runes out of energy has a drink of the energy drink and they win the race or whatever they are competing in so we thought we should make are advert different to the normal type of advert and go for a chase scene so it’s kind of like a normal energy drink advert however we had a twist with it almost being Halloween we thought to have a monster chasing me though the college so it’s different to other adverts.

I personally learned a lot of skills though this project some I will use every day and some only apply to this part of the course like the editing techniques I’ve never edited a video advert using adobe premiere so I learned a lot though people in my group and the teacher Marissa like how to mark in and out of the footage so that is where it would start and then she showed us how to actually cut the footage so we can get rid of the useless footage we took by using the razor tool the like cuts it off then you click it then delete it form the whole think so that’s one. Another think I learnt was how other work differently to me because I’m not a person that rushes my work it needs to be done however Dee is the opposite he just gets it done then goes though it after to check it to change any bits he does not like so I had to accept that and work around that so are styles work together not against each other.

I personally feel it’s a good piece of work to say it’s out very first time even trying to record with people we have only known for 4 weeks it’s very different but I’m happy with it but there is defiantly room for improvement but that’s why I’m on the course to improve my skills in these types of things but overall I’m happy with our efforts.

If I was to do this differently I would be much more organized on my work and save it a lot more than I did as I had to do the storyboard 3 times over so that would be something I would work on is save a lot more often than usual. Also would edit it a bit differently add more effect to it make it more horror and spookier to watch then it already is.

Photography Video Evaluation

In this project we had to produce a Freaky or Unique piece of photography to make seem supernatural and different and we had to produce a montage of the image to make it seem different to every other freak or unique advert that been before. So we produced a photograph of the products we photographed and changed to make it look very different to the original and make it look freaky then we had to print it off and show the class.

We had to research other adverts like this on the internet to give us the inspiration to our own piece which it did for me as I thought I could combine a very innocent picture of something and make it look very evil or even do a good versus evil piece of photography and make it look like the screens cracked in to with the good and evil theme.

Things I’ve learnt from my first assessment is that I need to manage my time better as I’ve done most of it but there’s still work to be done even though it’s the final day of the assignment and I still need to finish off my montage of my work.

I learnt a lot of skill though this project as I needed to learn how to use a bridge camera as I’m really only use to digital cameras not professional camera like the college has so basically everything I’ve learnt is new to me so taking the photos to the editing the photographs are brand new to me.

My ideas for this piece of work is to make a good teddy look evil and make a bad monster can look good with swapping some things over like the monster logo I’m going to put that on the teddy bear to make it look evil and like it’s a good teddy stuck with evil features whereas I’m going to put the bowtie of the teddy bear on the monster can so it gives it that feeling of wrong placement and different.

I feel like I could of done better with my final piece of work because I really did not know what to bring in to photograph to begin with so I just brought in some things from my room that I found and it had nothing to do with are topic so I had to just adjust the photographs so I’m happy with it but overall I’m happy with how the photographs turned out.

If I was to do this again I would make sure I would bring in the right images to photograph and not just random items that I found the day before so that is one think I defiantly know what the bring in to class so I’m there with the wrong items for class. Also if I had more time on the project I would have made sure the lighting was good and it was not too dull but that’s not that important as we used a seamless background so it’s fine.

for this image i darkened the lighting to give it that evil feel to it as people say Monster as a brand is connected to the Satan and is a very negative Brand over all 

for this image of the teddy i had ti lighten the level and curves on both to give it look of  and angle like this creature will never hurt you only cuddle with you 

for this image i made it a lot darker at the bottom of the image to make this one a lot different to other pictures of bottles also i made it so the shadow is more noticeable so it looks better   

with this image i made it kinda the same as the other one of the teddy bear make it look very heavenly and good nature  

Here are four edited shot of things i took my photos off for all of these photos i had to change the curves and the levels of these photos to make them look different to the original this would make the photo come alive and different the other ones like it

Props

I will be bringing in 3/4 items to be photographed for my advert for photography class so I was thinking of bringing in a bottle of mountain dew for a couple of my photographs then I shall use a teddy bear from my house that I’ve had since I was born so that can be the second object for this photography work and also I shall bring in a can of monster I think because that I an evil looking can as a few people associate Monster Energy with the devil and Satan then finally I might bring in a ball of string for my photography work and put it with something else to make the picture look different.

Equipment

In the equipment list I will be using I will need a white sheet of paper so I have a none creased background so the photograph looks good and presentable to be handed in to Mark at the end of this project. Also I will need to have a red head for my lighting so you can see the object and then see the shadow in the background of the object to give it that creepy feeling of something being watched from the shadow. Next we had to use a light stand to hold the red head in place so it can shine the light on to the product I want to photograph to give it the shadow. Also I will need a camera obviously to actually take the photos for my photography work. Finally you will need a SD Card as this is a place you will be storing these photographs.

Location

My photos will be in the studio that I work in normally because it has great natural lighting in most of the room but towards the end of the room towards the classroom next door the light starts to dim as there are not where the light can get in in that part of the room so if I do use that part I will need to use lights like a red head or other ones. Secondly it’s a high traffic area so I may get in peoples way if I do stay in this room.

Photographic consideration

I will need to take in to account the time of day I will be taking these photography’s as if it’s taken a night time the light will not be the best for the photography’s and will look really bad if I do so I will need to take it in the middle of the day or when lights at its best.

Editing Techniques

For the editing techniques I will be use the curves and levels that Photoshop offers so my photos look good and effective if I go with a lighter or darker phase of the image so it looks rather evil and rather good.

What Obstacles Will I Face

Some of the obstacles I might face are people getting in the way of the photographs as I’m in a high traffic area because I’m in between two class room so people will be coming in and out of the room constantly. Also another problem I might face is the fact that the lighting might be awful on that day so I can’t really take the photos that I want to take.

Magazine Advert

this is the original drafts i did for the idea of what to do for my magazine advert although the picture is not the best you can see a basic idea for my product  

Today we had to create a magazine advert for something of are choice but first we had to design it on paper before we could take are ideas to Photoshop so i create 6 designs for my magazine advert then moved it over to Photoshop to actually create my magazine advert so first i was looking for a lucozade but then it would not let me copy and paste the photo from google images to photoshop it just would not show up at all so i had to change my idea to a can of sprite so that what i did went for a sprite can and that allowed me to get in on photoshop but then i needed an actual background for it and I could not think of a background for it as i did not know what direction i wanted to take this advert in but finally i had a idea why not put it in the jungle and use a slogan of do you have jungle fever as the best i can come up with and put the sprite logo at the bottom of the page so it kinda look more official however i have not finished this and still needs a slogan and a subheading so make it a finished magazine advertisement 

Tutorial
In this lesson we had to print off are labels to are product we would be 'selling' in are advert and then we got sent down to the library to collect are printing but before we could do that we had to take a tour of the library form the librarian so we went around talking about everything in the library and what its used for then we got a to print off are work and take a photo of a book from the library.

Videoing are first advert

this was are report that we had to do for every place we wanted to record at this specific one if for the staircase but we had to do this for the classroom and the college entrance. 

This was are shot list for are advert so in every scene we recorded we knew that we were doing that shot E.G mid shot or close up  ETC

Today is the day we had to record are advert for are energy drink with are group so in are group we had to print off anything we did not have in are groups so we had to print off 4 things before we could get to actually doing any recording of any kind so i had to print off the storyboard and the label Yasmine has to print off the proposal and Dee had to print any photos are the locations of where we were going to shoot so after all of this was printed off we could start to shoot are advert.

here's are health and safety form we had to fill out before we could go out. 

But before we could recorde all of are scenes for are advert we had to have all of are work in order so we new what we were doing.

This was are proposal for the whole thing so we knew everything about are advert and so nothing could go really wrong. 

This was a basic storyboard for the whole think we used a website called storyboard that and it was kinda easy to use although there were difficult bits to it but overall its ok just a basic one to start with but as i got to know the 

So after all of are paper work and everything was sorted we were 40 minutes in to the lesson and we finally got out to film are first scenes for the advert and after we had done the first scene we had to film like 6 other scene sort of the same thing Dee chasing me then i run off in like a horror type feel and then suddenly i'm drinking the drink and that's are advert really

The location for are advert will be just out side the college (The Adams Building) with me and Dee running in to it as if hes chasing me in to it. Secondly we have the spiral staircase that Dee will be chasing me up.Then finally in the room we work in the Adams building.

Fonts

These are some of the fonts i found for the energy drink are group is making that i think would look decent for the drink as it gives it that edgy feeling like monster with there drinking and logo its just not normal for a drink to be like that.
first we had to find the fonts on a website called DAFONT this website has millions of fonts to chose from like calligraphy type writing to box typing to this or even street art like font but these are the ones i choice because its more of a energy drink type of font in my opinion so then to get it on Photoshop i had to print screen it then paste it on there so i can edit it so its the font on its own and not the whole page with it only the text so i had to use the rectangle marquee tool to crop everything around the font so that's what left only the font and not the whole page then i  had to do that 5 more time to get all six and then save it as a jpeg then upload it on here

So in the second session of the day we had to create are label for the energy drink so me and Yasmine created this for are bottle label where it has everything you need and gives a freaky feeling to it with the background so its really different to other drinks labels like Lucozade and monster so its a really good look to it in my opinion.

And in the third session we had today we got introduced to the library and where we can print stuff like work or other things and some where to go if we just need to get work done or some thing like that so its just a place to get things done that need to be done and quick.

Today we were split in to groups of 3 and i was in group one with Dee and Yasmine and we were told to find a minimum of 3 freaky adverts and why they were freaky but first we had to get to know each other a bit more so we told each other are names and what are skills are i don't really have many skills to be honest well i cant think of any but Dee was good with a camera and Yasmine was good with make up then finally we had to say like what object we can bring in like props and make up and costumes which me and Dee could bring props and Yasmine could bring the other things.

This advert does not really use sound there is only someone talking in the back ground

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2oL_gXECtg in this advert you see a woman coming back from her shopping coming in to a car park just walking to her car and then suddenly from behind her you see a little 5 year old girl just following her and creeping her out with following her until she is in the car and the little girl is right out side with a phone it just makes you feel uncomfortable watching it make you feel like your being watch from something. the sound in this advert is both diegetic and non diegectic  because you can see certain sounds coming from her shoes and her gasping when she see the kid but when the kid shows up the music drops and becomes very minor keyed and very weird.

Metz vodka 
in this advert you see a man that looks like jack frost chasing a man though the forest while holding the metz vodka and this is in the middle of a snow forest like Narnia so you cant run so you see jack frost chasing some guy though a forest and finally he takes him to where everyone else is and everyone is drink this vodka so he decides to have some and he likes it then suddenly it turns back to a puppet show again and it started like a puppet show. The music in this advert is very minor toned
when hes get taken but this jack frost looking creature.

Brain Storm

In this session we had to brain storm new ideas for are freaky advertisement with are new group so in group 1 we had myself Dee and Yasmine and we had to get new ideas for the advert so at first we had ideas of food I.E the skittles advert where everything turns to skittles but we choice to go against that and gone for an energy drink instead because we could do like a chase scene then  suddenly have a drink of this certain drink and be so pacey the supernatural creature could not keep you or even the the creature have the drink and it give it to me and it not be chasing me for the wrong reason but we just decided to do something completely different one person would bust though a door and would seel it to the audience at least this is what we are thinking of doing but it could all change but tomorrow

this is a cropped shot as its just showing hi head and not his hole body you use this to show the emotion on the person and how they are portrait  

this is the Rule of thirds as they dont have the main object right in the middle they have it towards the side of the photo to give it more of an affect of how they use the object 

in this photo you can see a wolfs face shows how framing is important as he has positioned his face persistently in the cameras face how how it looks so detailed 

this photo shows how the leading lines can be shown and how affect it is with how everything is placed in  a line so you can clearly see everything that is involved in the photo

is this photo you can see there is a balanced element as the main subject is off the center so it make it much more interesting to look at

this photo shows the depth with many people in the photo in in focus and looks really good because you can see all the emotion the the peoples face even the ones at the back 

New camera work

Today we got to play around with cameras on tripods and all the different shot we could do with them there was 5 main ones tilt, pan, still, jib and steady cam and we had to practice these shoots in groups of 3s so in my group we had me Nathan and Elliot and all of us had to practice talking all of these shots outside or where ever we wanted around the college practicing these shots.

So we went off to take these photos, we went out of the college in the courtyard and took took these photos first up was Elliot and his photos turned out great with all of his videos then  Nathan took his photos in E floor seating area which turned out alright but the problem being there was just too many people coming though so we had a limited time doing it and then we it was my turn and i took my pictures on D floor near the library and they turned out ok but i will deffenetly need to work on my camera skills i think .

Photoshop

These are two of the ghostly images we were told to make today with a different background each time and we had a power point given to us telling us what we needed to do and i found it really usful as i have never really used photoshop before last week so this made it really simple for me to do i was done in like 10-15 minutes first we had to get a image off of google images like the abounded hospital with ash and mudkip off of pokemon and so first we had to import a picture on to Photoshop then we had to re size it to fit the A4 sheet of paper then import the picture of ash or mudkip in change there size and then we had to adjust the desature of the photo (crt+shift+U) to give it that ghostly feel then we had to to change the blur to make it so its more faded out and spooky and finally change the opacity if the picture so its more see though and i just did the same for the top one.

In the second seesion of the day we had to create a basic banner though Photoshop again and after the banner was made you had to find a freaky photo off of the internet and put it with your banner so first we had to put a rectangle down so we had a starting shape and then used the anchor on the pen so we can change the shape so now we have a dent in the shape and it made it look very different then we had to crate a new shape from a rectangle to a triangle very simple to do as well then add it together and thats what we did today.

We were told to find a advert that uses music to change the advert and how it affect the advert this was the advert we used https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1ceAFeT-7s the new Audi RS3 Sportsback as the first of the 3 we had to do and the music was very minor keys and sounded very elegant and the tempo speed up towards the end of the advert. the point of this advert is to show that the new Audi RS3 is like the super powerful sports car the  Audi R8 but just less expensive and a bit less powerful so they are trying to get power to feel like there are just as powerfull cars out there with out spend thousands of pounds on the most powerful car they do.

secondly we were told to find a make up commercial so we picked the new l'oreal advert https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cnvngwDic7A the tempo was rather fast and it had a range of keys though out the video, it had major keys as it was a very upbeat advert about there new product and it had a non diegetic sound to it as we could not see the music playing in the background. In this advert you see a person walking on stage looking all confidant because shes got her brand new make up on.

 we had to find a sofa advert so we choice csl advert https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2XGM8b_fjww and is this one is a very minor key and and also a very slow tempo and not a very wide range of keys as its the same all the way though the advert and it also has a non diegtic sound as you cant see where the sounds coming from and you only hear it. In this advert we see lots of people looking at new sofas and other things like vases and footrests.

next we did pepsi new advert dancing in the rain https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WCBUh-0w3Ck and its trying to attract young people to drink there pepsi max and feel refreshed when they have a drink of it, it has a very high tempo so its appealing to the young generation different keys though the song and its differently a major key as its wanting people to be happy though drinking the new pepsi max its got a bit of both diegetic sound and non diegetic sound as you hear music in the back ground but its looks like the people on the advert are singing it when they are on the screen. In this advert you see groups of people walking up to a dance floor with a DJ up there and dance for like 10 minutes then suddenly Pepsi comes down and drenches all of them in Pepsi while they are still dancing.

this was my original draft for my subversive advert this way i had an idea of what i was needing to do before just getting in to it but you cant really see it that well from this image but it turned out just like i wanted it to on the final advert below 

Then in the second part of the session we looked at subversive adverting and how its affect big company's reputation like shell how they are getting away with planting oil farm in places like the north pole and other area causing damage to these place and they will never look the same again. Then we had to change something about the couple of photograph to make it different to other subversive advertisements.

Camera work

Today we had are first lesson with mark and in this lesson we learned all about how cameras work and how they shoot and first we got a go have a go with the camera out and about we were given 2 news letters  and told to reenact 4 photos of are choice and in groups of 5-6 we went off after choice those pictures and at first it was kinda awkward because we did not really know each other so after like 10 minutes we went back to the classroom we were the first in  with all of are camera shot after 2 minutes of waiting for everyone else to come back and then we went for break.

In the second session we had to look at all the photos we took and shared them with everyone in the group it was kinda awkward to show everyone the photos and looking weird but it was ok by the end as everyone had shown there photos we go sent off on the final task of the day which was identify news just though photographs so we had photos like 9/11 and identify  that was pretty simple to say what that was but there was also a lot harder one like the kid that was found washed up on the beach and that was it really day over.

Video Camera

As i walk in to the room we see a new teacher and she want people to come with her to get the cameras and the tripods so we can do the work for today so like 6 people put there hands up and volunteered to go get the camera with her while all the other lift in the room just talk about what we did before collage what we wanted to do if this was not it all this new people talk so we talk for about 10 minutes and then the teacher came back from picking up all the cameras and we were told to go out and take 4 shots extreme close up just a normal close up a wide shot and a medium shot all these we the shots we had to do for the teacher.

So we went out and took the shots around the campus and of the campus it was really fun taking random photos of other making jokes and other thinks to do so it was a really good time with everyone .
Then after that it was break and we just went to Sainsburys got some gum and some drinks then went back to collage.
now its final lesson of the day and we had to learn to use the tripods right and me and Elliot did perfectly no problems at all it was a really fun and a new experience.

photoshop freak or unique

Today we used Photoshop for the first time and its was really fun we had one hour thirty minutes of just messing around with layers,importing images, transform and though all this made a freaky image of a kid with a sword and a pirate hat on and we started off by opening up the program Photoshop then when that opened we had to click file and new to create are own piece of work we were told to find a picture of a animal and make it look really freaky with the third eye on this animal so we had to expand the image using ctrl+t to make the image look alright and much bigger as it was really small to begin with then we had to apply it to make it clean and not  pixelated so its much clearer to see and then we had to clone stamp on it to copy something from that image like a eye or a mouth something like that as you can copy it on to something else like what i did with the dog's eye and putting it on its forehead and then we were told we need to out different pictures on to a different image so i choice a pirate hat a mine craft sword and a picture of a kid meme on the internet and this was what we did on photoshop for the day just getting to know the program and the basic of what we can do

my final piece of the day still needs a lot of work but its a decent start
